Government of the Azores wants to increase Agrarian Planning Perimeters in order to guarantee food sustainability

The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development announced that the Regional Government of the Azores is already reviewing the Agrarian Planning Perimeters (POA), in order to increase the amount of existing hectares.
“At the current moment in which we live, with the increase in the price of raw materials, resulting from the military conflict, it is important to increase these areas, taking into account that they are privileged, untouchable areas destined for the production of agrifood”, he stressed last month.
António Ventura advanced that, currently, there are about 50 thousand hectares in the 17 Agrarian Planning Perimeters and that the objective is to move to 20 perimeters and to a total of 60 thousand hectares, “making these areas untouchable and destined solely and exclusively for food sustainability. ”.
