Government approves exceptional rules to support fruit and vegetables

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food today published an ordinance with national standards of exceptional character for the fruit and vegetables sector for the year 2022. The diploma defines the following measures:

– Extension of the deadline for the execution of scheduled and non-executed actions from 30 April 2023 to 15 August 2023;
– Change in the content of the Operational Programs up to the limit of 60% of the approved value, in derogation from the current 40%;
– The maximum limit of the change request for the year 2022, referring to the reduction of the operational fund, becomes 35 % of the amount initially approved, in derogation from the current 20%;
– Changes to the Operational Programs for the year 2022 are now exempt from prior authorization by the Regional Directorates of Agriculture and Fisheries;
– Eligibility of small red fruits (Raspberry, Blueberry, Blackberry and Strawberry) within the scope of market withdrawals for free distribution.

These farmer support measures aim to mitigate the current market disruptions and the unprecedented combination of constraints affecting the agricultural sector. Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has defined exceptional rules, as it is necessary to alleviate these difficulties, and has adopted these measures to make procedures more flexible for fruit and vegetable producers.
