The second session of the Conference Cycle “Agro-industrial Co-Products & Animal Feed – For circular animal production” will take place on the day November 23, in the format of webinar through the zoom platform, through the 18:00, under Science and Technology Week.
The guest speaker will be João José Santos, Zootechnical Engineer and Promoter of Saloio Pig project, which will present the theme “Porco Saloio – The West of Pork and Soul”. The protagonist of the project is the most endangered Portuguese autochthonous pig breed: the Malhado de Alcobaça. Inserted in the West region, a region rich in agricultural products, the pigs are raised outdoors, using natural food that uses co-products from the region's agribusiness. This project allows the production of pork in a sustainable, safer and healthier way, going directly from the producer to the consumer, and with a distinct flavor and juiciness. The Porco Saloio brand thus contributes to the reduction of food waste, to the circular economy and to the valorization of endogenous resources.
The conference is aimed at agents linked to animal production, such as livestock producers, nutritionists and the compound feed industry for animals, but also agricultural and agro-industrial producers, the scientific community, as well as all those interested in the subject.
