EU Biological Day is celebrated annually on 23 September, at the joint initiative of the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.
This day refers to the autumnal equinox and symbolizes the balance between agriculture and the environment, going against organic production. It also seeks to encourage a type of sustainable agriculture in which food production is carried out in harmony with nature, biodiversity and animal welfare.
It forms part of the Action Plan for the Development of Organic Agriculture, the objective of which is to substantially increase the production and consumption of organic products, in order to contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the Farm to Fork Strategy and the Strategy for to Biodiversity.
